Purpose
CellCept® is an immunosuppressive medicine that helps prevent organ rejection.
Dosage
The dose we prescribe for you is based on your lab values. The capsules come in 250mg and 500mg sizes. Liquid formulation can be made by your pharmacist in a concentration of 200mg/cc.
When
In the morning, take on an empty stomach. Repeat the dose in the pm, 12 hours after your am dose.
Precautions
Antacids such as Maalox and Mylanta decrease your body's absorption of CellCept. You should never take antacids at the same time as CellCept. You will be prescribed other medicines to protect your stomach, such as Prilosec or Prevacid, while on CellCept.
Common Side Effects
Nausea, vomiting, low white blood cell count, loss of appetite, abdominal pain, diarrhea, anemia.
