Adult Congenital Heart Surgical Care

Innovations have dramatically extended the lives of those with congenital heart disease. As a result, we now have a growing adult population requiring surgical repairs and “updates” of earlier procedures. As the body matures, we may need to revise childhood operations for septal defects (holes in the walls separating the upper and lower chambers of the heart) or other abnormalities. Adults may also develop new lesions surrounding earlier repairs. In addition, newly recognized congenital defects and complex arrhythmias may require surgical attention.

Our surgeons are known for treating the most complex of these defects, and have special expertise in caring for adults with congenital heart disease as part of one of the largest and most experienced adult congenital heart programs in the world, the Schneeweiss Adult Congenital Heart Center.
