Nurse Practitioner, Outpatient Colorectal Surgery

Gerthy Michel is a board certified Nurse Practitioner in the Division of Colorectal Surgery who graduated from Pace University.  Prior to becoming a Nurse Practitioner, Gerthy worked as an Outpatient Ambulatory care Nurse at NYP/Columbia for 13 years. Gerthy works closely with Dr. Pokala Ravi Kiran, and all the colorectal surgeons in the Division. She sees patients in collaboration with the Colorectal Attending Surgeons in the outpatient setting from their initial consult examination through their entire post-operative period.  She educates and triage patients and their families with common concerns relating to colorectal disorders.  Gerthy has expertise in the evaluation and management of Pelvic Floor Disorders through specialized procedures such as Anorectal Manometry, Biofeedback, and Pelvic Floor Therapy through the Division of Colorectal Surgery’s Pelvic Floor Program.
