Life with EA/TEF: A Comic Essay

By Olivia

We can tell you all about the causes and treatments of EA/TEF, but what’s it like for those who have it? In this brilliant comic story, our friend Olivia invites us into her world to help us understand.

A Day at the Hospital

By Evelyn

Our friend Evelyn shared these pictures of the hospital she drew. You can see one of her doctors holding a “shot” (syringe, haha), and a picture of herself and what her insides looked like when she was born.

She also shared the colorful pictures she drew for Dr. Khlevner and Dr. Middlesworth during one of her virtual visits. Thanks Evelyn!

Inside My Body

By Parker

Our fiend Parker put his drawing skills to great use by showing us what goes on inside his body.

“This is where the food goes inside my body.”

“These are the tools the doctors use to look at my body.”

Thanks, Parker!

What I’m Thankful For

By Asher

Our friend Asher wanted us to know what he answered when his teacher asked the class what they were thankful for. Here’s what he said:

“I’m thankful for the food I eat because it helps me get bigger and stronger. I couldn’t get food down my esophagus when I was a baby.”

We’re thankful to work with kids like these! If you’re a kid with EA/TEF and want to share your creativity with our community, reach out to us at (212) 342-8585.
